Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of services do you offer?

I offer men’s massage — by a man, for men. You can choose from therapeutic, Swedish/classic/relaxation, deep tissue, or sensual massage. For those wanting something more immersive and energetically connected, I also offer a Tantric Experience Massage that weaves breath, energy, and presence into the session.
Beyond massage, I provide cuddle therapy, sacred intimacy sessions, couples embodied coaching (including a one-partner option), online courses, workshops, and retreats — all designed to help men reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and authentic selves.

Who are your services for?

My work is for men — gay, bi, straight, queer, curious, or still figuring things out. It’s a space by men, for men, where you can drop the masks, exhale, and just be. No judgment, no expectations — simply presence and connection.

What’s the difference between a “regular” massage and your men’s massage?

A men’s massage with me isn’t just about muscle tension — it’s about energetic and emotional release too. I combine therapeutic techniques with intentional, sensual touch (if requested) in a space where you’re free to relax, be seen, and feel safe in your body. My work honors the full spectrum of masculine experience — physical, emotional, and sensual.

What should I expect during a session?

You’ll arrive at my private home studio in Hollywood, where the energy is calm, welcoming, and grounded. We’ll begin with a brief chat about your needs, boundaries, and preferences. The session itself can be deeply relaxing or more vigorous and invigorating — it’s tailored entirely to you. Expect warm oils, intuitive touch, and full attention to your comfort and experience from start to finish.

Is it safe and judgment-free?

Absolutely. This is a no-judgment zone — a place where you can relax into who you are without having to perform or hide any part of yourself. Everything we do is built on mutual respect, clear consent, and trust.

What are your credentials and experience?

I’m a Certified Massage Therapist, and a Certified Cuddle Therapist. I am also a Tantric Sexuality Teacher, and professional bodyworker who’s trained extensively in both traditional and holistic modalities. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of men — helping them reconnect with their bodies, awaken pleasure, and rediscover ease in their own skin.

Where is your studio located, and what are the hours?

I’m located in Hollywood at 6217 Waring Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90038.
Sessions are by appointment only, generally available between 10 AM and 11 PM.

How do I book or contact you?

You can easily book online through my website or contact me directly at 213-588-4242 or trevor@trevorjamesla.com. I’m always happy to answer any questions before you book.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash is preferred, but I also accept Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, and major credit cards (with a $8 surcharge).

What should I bring or how should I prepare?

Arrive a few minutes early, wear something comfortable, and take a moment to breathe and settle in. It helps to hydrate before and after your session, and please let me know about any injuries or health issues beforehand so I can tailor the session safely for you. You can also check out my massage preparation guide here: www.mensbodyworkla.com/massage-prep

What if I’ve never had a male-to-male massage before?

You’re in good hands. Many of my clients are first-timers. I’ll walk you through everything, make sure you feel completely at ease, and adjust the pressure and flow to suit your comfort level. Just show up as you are — there’s no right or wrong way to receive touch.

Do you offer different modalities or intensities?

Yes. Whether you want something soothing and slow or deep and invigorating, I offer a full range: therapeutic, Swedish/classic, deep tissue, sensual, and the Tantric Experience Massage for those seeking a deeper energetic connection.

What is cuddle therapy, and how is it different from massage?

Cuddle therapy is about nurturing, non-sexual touch that soothes the nervous system and helps restore emotional connection. It’s about being held, seen, and accepted exactly as you are. Unlike massage, it’s not about muscle work — it’s about presence, breath, and shared human warmth. Clients often describe it as grounding, healing, and surprisingly profound.

Is confidentiality respected?

Always. Discretion is a cornerstone of my practice. Whatever you share or experience here stays strictly between us.

Do you work with couples or just individuals?

I work primarily with individual men, but I also offer couples sessions. I also offer couples coaching for partners who want to deepen intimacy and communication. If you’re in a relationship and want to explore together — or even start the work solo — we can design something that fits.

What if I have medical conditions, injuries, or take medication?

Please let me know before your session so I can adapt the work to your needs. Your safety and comfort come first, and I’m happy to coordinate with your healthcare provider if needed.

Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?

Absolutely. My practice celebrates men of all orientations and identities. Whether you’re gay, bi, straight, trans, or questioning, you’re welcome here.

Welcome

If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re curious — maybe even a little nervous — about what to expect. That’s completely normal. My work isn’t your typical spa massage; it’s an invitation to reconnect with your body, your emotions, and your aliveness in a safe, judgment-free space.

These FAQs are here to help you feel more informed and at ease before you book.

How can I tailor the massage for me?

This is YOUR session. If you want anything changed: pressure, areas worked, position or if you are too hot or too cold ... please let me know! My feelings won’t be hurt by you asking for something that will make you more comfortable. I want this to be the best experience for you to relax and enjoy. Also, what you requested in one session may be different in another. If you had a full body massage last time, but this time you only want your back/neck/shoulders/arms worked, it's perfectly fine to let me know.

What if I am self-conscious about certain parts of my body?

If you’re uncomfortable with getting a specific area treated, don’t be embarrassed to mention it to me. I can avoid those areas. I will typically ask you before I begin your massage.

Can I talk during my session?

Sure, if you'd like to talk, go right ahead. The important thing to remember is that this treatment is all about you relaxing and enjoying the experience. In many instances, people may feel more relaxed starting off talking, and as the massage progresses, enter quiet states of relaxation. The important issue here is that there are times when you need to speak up. If I am doing anything that is making you uncomfortable, please let me know immediately. Also, let me know if you get too warm or too cold, if the room is too bright, or if the pressure needs to be changed (lighter or deeper). If something is not working for you, it’s perfectly ok to let me know!

What if I get an erection during my massage?

It means everything is working! Yet, most men avoid massage for fear this will happen to them. Or, they get a massage but are unable to relax because of this fear. But there is no reason to be embarrassed. It is entirely normal get an erection even during a non-erotic, therapeutic, full body massage. Touch administered to any part of the body can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which can result in a partial or complete erection. Besides, what’s an erection between men? We all get them. Just relax and enjoy the massage.

What can I expect at my M4M massage session?

You can expect to receive an excellent and relaxing massage combined with sensual elements, if you so choose. I will use established massage techniques together with sensual touch during your massage and I generally allow mutual touch. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time. (You can also read my blog on gay massage etiquette).

Why do you only work on men?

I fill the niche for men who prefer the touch of other men for bodywork, regardless of sexual orientation.

Is a M4M massage suitable for a straight man?

Absolutely! It is, first and foremost, a massage like you would get anywhere else, performed by an experienced masseur. You get to choose how sensual — or not — you want your experience to be. Your sexuality is your own business, and I won’t ask. Nothing in the world can ‘make you gay’. Whether you want to call it ‘m4m massage’, ‘men’s massage’, or ‘gay massage’, it’s all the same to me. You can read my blog post about this. This is a judgment-free zone, and you will be in complete control at all times. You can be as involved or not as you want, so you will not be made to do anything you’d rather not do.

What’s the difference between erotic and sensual massage? Do you practice ‘erotic massage’?

Massage is in itself inherently sensual. The main difference between a regular and ‘sensual’ massage is intent. Sensual massage is still a regular massage, but there are just fewer boundaries on how I touch you. I can provide more of a sensual session with erotic elements. (See my blog post about this). But those elements vary depending on how well the client and I interact, communicate, and what boundaries are agreed on before the session.

Do you offer sex as part of the massage?

I do not offer sex with clients.

When are you available?

My online booking tool shows the latest available slots. You can also text or call 213.588.4242 for special requests.

What is so special about Men's Bodywork by Trevor James?

I'm glad you asked! My promise to you is to be intentional and mindful during our session to give you my full attention.

Am I supposed to leave a tip?

Tips and gifts are never required, so I will receive any additional generosity you choose to extend with surprise and excitement.

Why is touch and intimate bodywork important for men?

Because most of us were never taught how to receive touch without performance, shame, or agenda. So many men carry tension, isolation, and emotional weight in silence. Touch is how we reconnect to ourselves — our breath, our pleasure, our humanity. It’s healing in the most primal way.

What’s the vibe of your studio? What should I expect when I arrive?

Think calm, grounded, and warm — soft lighting, gentle music, clean linens, and a quiet space that invites you to leave the outside world behind. Most clients say they feel relaxed the moment they walk through the door.

What should I wear?

For cuddle sessions, comfortable clothes — gym shorts, tank top, or whatever helps you relax — are perfect. The goal is comfort and connection, not formality.

For massage, draping is always available if you prefer it.
